GridWeek 2011: It's a Utility Thing
Major GridWeek partners, including NARUC, help drive utility content and participation
WASHINGTON, July 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- GridWeek 2011 organizers are putting utilities at the front and center of energy discussions at the fifth annual Smart Grid conference held in Washington, D.C., Sept. 12-15, 2011. Focused on the future of energy and strategies for energy business, policy and solutions, each of GridWeek's 40 unique sessions will be rich with utility input.
"This conference has always focused on charting the path forward for Smart Grid stakeholders, and this year we are ensuring – more than ever – that utility voices are heard," said Anto Budiardjo, President, Clasma Events. "With hundreds of utility deployments underway, we are dedicating an entire day to 'state of deployments' – highlighting some 30 utility deployments to date."
GridWeek 2011 is presenting a number of conference tracks each day focused on utility Smart Grid themes, like: "Global Economy and the Grid," "Utility Business Innovation," "Information Management," "Communications Infrastructure," and "Consumer-Focused Deployments."
GridWeek leverages diverse industry partnerships to ensure content and speakers are relevant and timely. New to GridWeek's advisory board in 2011, the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) is working alongside other major partners – like the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), American Public Power Association (APPA), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), and others – to ensure a robust line-up of speakers and participants.
"Representing electricity regulators across the U.S., NARUC has a bird's eye view of the innovative Smart Grid deployments going on throughout the country," said Charles Gray, Executive Director, NARUC. "As part of the GridWeek advisory board, we're working to ensure their stories are shared with key stakeholder groups across the industry. I anticipate eye-opening and thought-provoking dialogue at this year's GridWeek."
The three main conference days are focused on the following themes: "Looking Forward," "Strategic Solutions," and "State of Deployments."
