Greyrock Energy Debuts Distributed Fuel Production System, Converting Natural Gas to Diesel Fuel
Greyrock Energy's GS1000 modular, distributed plants enable the efficient and profitable conversion of natural gas, natural gas liquids, and stranded gaseous hydrocarbons into clean diesel fuels
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Greyrock Energy, a company committed to changing the way the world produces liquid transportation fuels, announced today the availability of the GS1000 diesel fuel production system. The GS1000 system enables distributed production of fuels from a variety of abundant gas sources, including natural gas, natural gas liquids, stranded gas resources and biogas.
Based on proprietary technologies developed since 2006, Greyrock's GS1000 plant design utilizes simplified process designs; Greyrock's proprietary catalysts and catalytic reactors; and innovative, integrated plant control systems. Each GS1000 plant is designed to produce 1000 barrels of premium diesel fuel per day, or about 15 million gallons per year. The plant can produce enough premium diesel fuel per year to run a fleet of heavy-duty trucks for greater than 90 million miles per year.
To date, the only gas to liquid (GTL) technologies currently available are large-scale facilities requiring billions of dollars in capital outlays with significant operating costs. There are very few locations in the world that can support these large-scale facilities. Greyrock's distributed, modular design enables the deployment of GS1000 plants at thousands of viable locations worldwide.
The modular architecture of the GS1000 allows customers to start with a single 1000 barrel/day plant and expand capacity by adding additional units. Customers who deploy their first GS1000 plant can typically anticipate a reasonable payback on their capital investment, depending on gas supply costs, site location, existing diesel fuel costs, and other factors. Other system designs are available based on Greyrock's system architecture.
