DALLAS, Nov. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Greyhound today announced that Greyhound Express® — the company's premium direct service between major cities — will expand in Southern California and connect to Mexico for the first time starting Nov. 19. The new service will connect Los Angeles to new markets San Diego and Tijuana with 14 daily round trips. Tickets are now on sale starting at $1 at www.mygreyhoundexpress.com.
While Greyhound has long remained the largest North American provider of intercity bus transportation, since introducing its Greyhound Express option in December 2010, it has also created the largest express network for intercity bus travel. Greyhound Express is offered throughout the five major regions of the U.S. and in Canada, and offers more than 1,000 potential direct-service intercity pairs available in more than 100 markets.
"We are excited to expand our network of premium Express service in Southern California as we continue to meet the growing demand for Greyhound Express and widen our customer base," said Dave Leach, president and CEO, Greyhound. "This latest expansion will offer travelers the opportunity to enjoy a safe, comfortable and affordable mode of travel between these popular cities, whether they want a quick trip within Southern California or the opportunity to venture across the border."
Greyhound Express operates modern, environmentally friendly buses equipped with features such as free Wi-Fi, power outlets, leather seats, reserved seating, extra legroom, wheelchair lifts and on-board restrooms. Customers can buy their Express ticket online to take advantage of discount pricing, print their ticket at home, or pick it up at a self-service ticketing kiosk, and know a guaranteed seat is waiting for them. Additionally, Express customers can relax in private waiting areas, protected from the elements in a secure environment, with a dedicated guest services specialist to provide an extra level of customer assistance. All tickets are nonrefundable.
Greyhound Express provides direct service between major cities, originating from Greyhound service hubs including New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary. For those who need long-distance connections, stations along Greyhound Express routes allow travelers to easily connect to an established network of more than 3,800 Greyhound destinations throughout North America.
