Paul N. Wojcik Remains as Chairman
ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bloomberg BNA announced today that Greg McCaffery has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and President of Bloomberg BNA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bloomberg.
McCaffery succeeds Paul N. Wojcik, who will continue to serve as Chairman — a role he has held since 2007.
"Strong succession planning is an important attribute of a strong company, and the seamless leadership transition from Paul to Greg demonstrates that strength," said Daniel L. Doctoroff, Bloomberg's CEO and President. "Paul's outstanding leadership has provided a strong foundation on which to build. Greg's 25-year track record at the company is one of accomplishment and marketplace success, and we have every confidence that he will do a terrific job as our newest subsidiary's chief executive," he said.
After being acquired by Bloomberg in September 2011, Bloomberg BNA became part of the parent company's stable of "vertical" businesses, including Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg Government, and Bloomberg New Energy Finance. As CEO, McCaffery will manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the company. Beth Mazzeo, Bloomberg's Global Head of Data Products and leader of Bloomberg's vertical businesses, said, "We are very excited to have Greg leading Bloomberg BNA as we craft plans to integrate Bloomberg BNA's well-respected legal news and analysis with Bloomberg Law's dynamic legal and business research platform to create innovative solutions for our customers."
McCaffery, who previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer, commented, "The Bloomberg acquisition marks a tremendous new chapter in our company's storied history. I am incredibly proud to lead this organization and its talented professionals as we team with our Bloomberg colleagues to create unsurpassed value for our customers."
Wojcik commented, "I have had the honor of leading this wonderful organization for 15 years, culminating in our acquisition by Bloomberg. Greg has been a key contributor to BNA's success and, with his strong leadership skills and strategic focus, is the ideal person to lead us into the future. I am proud to support Greg in his new role."
As Chairman, Wojcik will focus his time and attention on growing the printing segment of the business, mentoring the next generation of BNA managers, overseeing succession planning, and leading special projects.
McCaffery joined BNA in 1986 as a journalist, before moving into product development and marketing leadership positions. He was named Vice President and Editor-in-Chief in 2000, Publisher in 2002, and President and Chief Operating Officer in 2007.
Wojcik joined BNA in 1972 as an editor and was named Vice President and General Counsel in 1988, Senior Vice President in 1994, and President and CEO in 1996.
