Greg Curry Named Senior Fellow of Litigation Counsel of America
DALLAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Thompson & Knight LLP Partner Greg W. Curry has been named a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America ("LCA"), a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers.
Curry is Thompson & Knight's Firm-wide Trial Practice Leader and a Trial Partner in the Firm's Dallas office. His litigation practice focuses on oil and gas, complex commercial (including real estate and construction), insurance coverage, and environmental matters. He has an active trial practice, having secured significant settlements and judgments for plaintiffs and defending numerous complex cases with substantial monetary claims, and works on a number of high profile and high risk domestic and international arbitrations.
He is consistently recognized for his skills in a diverse range of trial matters. Curry has been named the 2015 Dallas Oil and Gas Law "Lawyer of the Year" by The Best Lawyers in America© by Woodward/White Inc. and selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America (2007-2016). He has also been named to Texas Super Lawyers® by Thomson Reuters (2003-2015) and recognized among the Top 100 Overall in Texas (2010, 2013-2015) and Top 100 Dallas/Fort Worth Region (2010, 2012-2015). He is included in Best Lawyers in Dallas by D Magazine (2011, 2013-2015).
In addition to practicing law, Curry is actively involved in other professional organizations. For more than a decade, he has been a leader among Texas defenders in civil trials. He served as President of Texas Association of Defense Counsel ("TADC") from 2009 to 2010, has held many leadership positions in TADC, and recently received its 2015 Founders Award. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas Litigation, Environmental & Natural Resources, and Oil & Gas Sections; and a member of the Dallas Bar Association where he has served on numerous committees, including the Energy Section. He is a Fellow of the American, Texas, and Dallas Bar Foundations.
His work on behalf of the legal community includes service to the public as a volunteer and leader. He is currently on the executive committee and a member of the Advisory Board for Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, which among other things, raises funds for students to attend competitions, college auditions, and summer programs; teachers to explore new programming; and the school to buy new instruments and art supplies. Curry is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, which assists survivors of violence from all over the word by providing legal and support services to refugees and immigrants who have suffered human rights abuses; advocates for justice; and promotes international human rights.
Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only. Fellows are selected based upon excellence and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation. Senior Fellow status in the society is reserved for advanced commitment to and support of the LCA, Diversity Law Institute and Trial Law Institute. The number of Fellowships has been kept at an exclusive limit by design, allowing qualifications, diversity and inclusion to align effectively, with recognition of excellence in litigation across all segments of the bar.
