Greenway's PrimeSUITE EHR Featured at IHE North America Connectathon
Meaningful Use Protocols, Standards-based Data Exchange and Interoperability Advanced through Network Integration and Testing Scenarios
CHICAGO, Jan. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc. is participating in the 12th annual Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) North America Connectathon today through January 21 in Chicago.
IHE is a global healthcare integration initiative to promote data exchange among physician practice, hospital and public health institutions, annually hosting Connectathon events in North America, Europe and Asia. Greenway® will be among more than 100 healthcare organizations testing nearly 200 system integrations. Connectathon participation is a precursor to Greenway's demonstrations during the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Interoperability Showcase as part of the HIMSS 2011 conference scheduled February 20-24 in Orlando.
Greenway's integrated EHR, practice management and interoperability solution PrimeSUITE® 2011 will utilize up to a dozen discrete data capture and exchange coding elements to demonstrate patient record audit trails and security, the sharing and exchange of medical and discharge summaries and personal health records, screening tests, immunization, drug safety and cancer registries and other content profiles.
The advancement of data exchange protocols are done in conjunction with standards developed by IHE, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and organizations such as the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) toward the finalization of future meaningful use criteria, accountable care and other quality reporting standards, and the creation of a Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN).
Standards coordination will be addressed in Chicago by the IHE USA board of directors, whose membership includes Greenway Vice President of Marketing, Corporate Development and Government Affairs Justin Barnes. "As a global initiative offering vast amounts of innovation, knowledge and ideas, it's important for interoperability leadership firms to support IHE and ensure that it continues to thrive, and I am honored to be in attendance this week," said Barnes, who also serves as chairman emeritus of the national Electronic Health Record Association (EHR Association).
During the weeklong testing, Greenway will participate in a series of real-time, practical scenarios. Ambulatory Specialist Referral, for example, utilizes referral summary content modules and patient care coordination frameworks to compile a complete medical summary transmitted to specialists via PrimeSUITE.
For obstetrics care, Antepartum Summary Exchanges (APS) are used in conjunction with Cross Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS), Patient Identifier Cross Referencing (PIX), Patient Demographics Query (PDQ) and other discrete data in a scenario utilizing PrimeSUITE to progress data from ambulatory to hospital labor and delivery for the availability of diagnosis, previous outcomes, genetics and related benchmarks during pregnancy.
The year's Connectathon will also feature the interoperability of PrimeSUITE's integrated solution PrimeRESEARCH®, which facilitates clinical trials, quality reporting and healthcare benchmarking.
Within IHE's quality, research and public health frameworks, PrimeRESEARCH will demonstrate pharmacovigilance using Drug Safety Content (DSC) profiles, Physician Reporting to Public Health Repository-Cancer Registry (PRPH-Ca) exchange, the pre-population of electronic case report forms (eCRF) using Retrieve Form for Data Capture (RFD), Retrieve Protocol for Execution (RPE) and other standards.
"These proving grounds for the progression of interoperability and electronic health records have never been more paramount," said Greenway President and CEO Tee Green. "As the convergence of meaningful use and future models of care coordination among public health agencies, private practices and hospital systems becomes a national priority for an outcomes-based and sustainable healthcare system, Greenway is proud to participate in the annual IHE Connectathon to demonstrate to our customers and the healthcare industry the advancement of the interoperability platform PrimeSUITE pioneered more than a decade ago."
