NEW YORK, March 10, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenstein & Milbauer, LLP, a law firm based in New York City, has filed a lawsuit in Nassau County Supreme Court (900024/2020), alleging that around June 1974, Plaintiff, a 16-year-old child suffered from gastrointestinal and psychological problems for which he was hospitalized at North Shore University Hospital for several days. During the hospitalization, Gary Cohen, M.D., an employee, agent, and/or representative of North Shore University Hospital, serially sexually abused Plaintiff. While the abuse occurred, the lawsuit alleges that the Defendants were generally negligent, they negligently employed Gary Cohen and gave him access to children, including Plaintiff. This lawsuit arises out of Plaintiff's significant damages which resulted from Gary Cohen sexually abusing him at North Shore University Hospital.

This lawsuit was filed under New York's Child Victims Act which allows innocent victims of child sexual abuse, like this child, the opportunity to seek compensation and hold their perpetrators accountable. Prior to the enactment of the Child Victims Act last year, the statute of limitations would have already expired for this child sexual abuse victim.
