Greenberg Traurig's Growing Global Energy and Infrastructure Practice Adds Energy Shareholder Nicolas Borda and 2 Associates
MEXICO CITY, Feb. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Prominent energy attorney Nicolas Borda has joined international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP in its Mexico City office as a shareholder in the Global Energy and Infrastructure Practice. He brings with him associates Rodrigo Vazquez del Mercado and Hector Sanchez Fernandez. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Borda was the partner in charge of the energy practice at Borda y Quintana, S.C. Attorneys at Law in Mexico City. Borda's previous firm was one of only three firms ranked by Chambers & Partners in Band 1 in Energy & Natural Resources in Mexico in 2011 and 2012. He will work closely with his U.S.-based counterparts in the firm's Energy Practice in Houston and other offices.
Admitted to practice law in both Mexico and New York, Borda has more than 15 years of experience leading major international energy transactions, including energy privatizations in Latin America, such as YPFB in Bolivia and Petroperu and Electrolima in Peru. Borda was an advisor to the Ministry of Energy for the privatization of the secondary petrochemical plants of Pemex-Petroquimica in 1997. At Greenberg Traurig, his practice will continue to focus on energy and natural resources-related transactions and infrastructure projects in the oil and gas and alternative energy and power industries.

Rodrigo Vazquez del Mercado joins as an associate from Borda y Quintana.
