Greenbelt Resources and Jababeka Infrastruktur Break Ground on Waste-to-Resources Project
JababECO to establish municipal waste-to-bioproducts model for Indonesia
JAKARTA, Indonesia and PASO ROBLES, Calif., May 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- JababECO, the first U.S.-Indonesia municipal waste-to-bioproducts project of its kind, has broken ground. A ribbon cutting ceremony, hosted by Greenbelt Resources Corporation (OTC: GRCO) and PT Jababeka Tbk, through its wholly owned subsidiary PT Jababeka Infrastruktur, took place on April 27, 2017. To mark the project launch, several key officials including Vice Governor of West Java Deddy "Demiz" Mizwar; Greenbelt Indonesia Founder Charles Saerang; Greenbelt Resources CEO Darren Eng; and Jababeka Infrastruktur Director Tjahjadi Rahardja shoveled dirt. The venture features Greenbelt's ECOsystem technology and will process municipal food waste into multiple products including bioethanol, animal feed, fertilizer and distilled water.
The groundbreaking represented one of the most significant events held during Jababeka Ecoweek 2017 and closed out the week's focus on environmental issues and programs. According to Rahardja, Jababeka Infrastruktur has a commitment to sustainability and conservation. "We are the leader in adopting and deploying the latest eco-technologies, and these are the foundation for our cities of the future," says Rahardja. "We envision these cities showcasing the new model of municipal waste management – JababECO."
Eng notes that Jababeka is an ideal project partner with which to launch this adaptive technology. "As a private company, Jababeka operates in a manner similar to a government agency but without the 'red' tape, so to speak," he explains. "That allows more flexibility and control to implement this sentinel project featuring our ECOsystem technology. We are confident JababECO will become the model of waste management in both urban and rural environments across south east Asia." Eng adds that the project will establish the best practices for growing Greenbelt's business with Jababeka.
Also attending the event were Hilman Nugroho, Director General of Watershed Control and Protection Forest Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia; Sulistyowati, Director of Land Damage Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia; Erna Rosdiana, Director of Environmental Partnership Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia; Anang Sudarna, Head of West Java BPLHD Office.
Last week Greenbelt Resources participated in a celebration ceremony, that included Vice President Mike Pence, to showcase more than USD $10.0 billion dollars in trade deals between the U.S. and Indonesia. For this project, JababECO, the ECOsystem technology, is alone valued at USD $4.5 million (IDR 59.8 billion) with an additional product sales value of another USD $6.0 million (IDR 79.7 billion) cumulatively over the next five years.
