According to National Oil & Lube News' "2010 Fast Lube Operators Survey" (September 2010), the overall breakdown of motor oil sales is divided into four segments, with Conventional/Synthetic Blend representing 72% of the marketplace, followed by Full Synthetic at 10%. And, according to the EPA's definition, re-refined oil is used motor oil that undergoes an extensive re-refining process to remove contaminants to produce "good-as-new" base oil. This base oil is then blended with additive packages to produce lubricants such as motor oil. Both re-refined and virgin oil products undergo the same testing and meet the same standards in order to receive the certification of the American Petroleum Institute, though the main difference is that re-refined represents the responsible choice for the environment. Vehicle and engine manufacturers such as Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, and Detroit Diesel have issued warranty statements that allow the use of re-refined oil as long as it meets API standards. Many government and private fleets have used re-refined lubricants in their vehicles for years and report no difference in performance from virgin lubricants
"Consumers in the know do view re-refined oil as a green option," says Jeffrey Loch, President & Chief Marketing Officer. "Combining these items with our existing bio-synthetic product assortment enables us to penetrate both motor oil segments with a 2 tier better-best green solution, at two price points, while branding both under the G-OIL® umbrella."
G-OIL's re-refined synthetic blend motor oil will be priced competitively to conventional and other synthetic blend motor oils with a suggested retail price of $3.99 per quart, compared to G-OIL's Bio-based Full Synthetic $6.99 price, that is priced comparable to other synthetic motor oils.
Whether "topping off" or returning used oil to a collection center, G-OIL is compatible with other motor oils and should be disposed of properly.
