Green Car Summit Coming to Capitol Hill
Industry Leaders to Discuss Pathways to Electric and Advanced Vehicles
WASHINGTON, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Washington Auto Show (WAS) and Green Car Journal will host the third annual Green Car Summit™ on Monday, January 25, sharing important insights from industry and environmental leaders including Stefan Jacoby, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, and Dr. Alan Lloyd, President of the International Council on Clean Transportation. Dr. Lloyd formerly served as Secretary of CalEPA and Chairman of the California Air Resources Board.
The 2010 Green Car Summit will launch the first of the show's two Public Policy Days that unite policy makers with international media and industry leaders. The Green Car Summit's strategic location on Capitol Hill facilitates reaching key Members of Congress and their staff, along with high-level government and industry officials and prominent members of the Washington media circuit.
"We are at a critical time in the history of the motor vehicle, with decisions made today influencing the direction of the auto industry for many years to come," said Ron Cogan, Editor and Publisher of the Green Car Journal and Editor of GreenCar.com. "While there is significant support in Washington for a new generation of vehicles operating on electric drive and low carbon fuels, and growing evidence that auto manufacturers are moving in that direction, important questions remain regarding how to get there in realistic ways."
This will be a key focus of the discussion at the Green Car Summit. Along with Mr. Jacoby and Dr. Lloyd will be high-level executives with key perspectives on how this transition can take place. Among them are Brian Wynne, President of the Electric Drive Transportation Association; Jason Wolf, Vice President of Better Place, Kevin Czinger, President and CEO of CODA Automotive; Nancy Gioia, Director of Global Electrification at Ford Motor Co.; and Scott Becker, Senior Vice President of Nissan North America.
The Green Car Summit will be held at the Capitol in the Cannon Building on January 25, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Additional information on the Washington Auto Show is available online at www.washingtonautoshow.com.
