SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- From groundbreaking energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction programs to technology innovation, California has set the pace for the green revolution. From March 15-17, thousands of green leaders from all levels of California government will meet in Sacramento and take stock of the progress of the sustainability movement at the fourth annual Green California Summit and Exposition.
Developed under the leadership of an Advisory Board chaired by CalEPA Secretary Linda Adams and acting State and Consumer Services Agency Secretary Tom Sheehy, the Summit is the public sector's largest annual forum for innovations in green policy, practice and technology. Sponsors of the 2010 event include Philips Electronics North America, Siemens, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District and Castle Press.
The opening keynote speaker will be Alec Loorz, founder of Kids vs Global Warming. Now 15, he founded his non-profit at age 12 when he was told he was "too young" to be trained to deliver Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" lecture. Joining him as featured speaker will be California Senator Fran Pavley, author of AB 32, California's landmark Global Warming Solutions Act.
Next 10 Founder Noel Perry and David Roland-Holst, director of UC Berkeley's Center for Energy, Resources, and Economic Sustainability, are the keynote speakers for the March 17 general session. Both are leading experts on the economic advantages of California's green policies. Karen Douglas, chair of the California Energy Commission, will join them as featured speaker.
The Summit Expo, open on March 16-17, will feature hundreds of companies offering green products and solutions, giving attendees a chance for hands-on exposure to the latest innovations, providers of products and services available to answer questions and inform government purchasing agents about new technologies. The annual Green California Leadership Awards ceremony will take place on March 16.
The keynotes, Expo and awards reception are free to registered attendees. In addition the Summit offers full day workshops on March 14 and concurrent educational sessions on March 15 and 16. These sessions will cover topics ranging from green building, water management, smart meters and transportation to project funding and green purchasing
