Green Beret Foundation Appoints the Honorable Georgette Mosbacher As Chairman of the Board of Advisors
NEW YORK, Nov. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Green Beret Foundation announced that it has appointed the Honorable Georgette Mosbacher as Chairman of their Board of Advisors. Ms. Mosbacher also chaired the 2014 Green Beret Foundation Gala Fundraiser in New York City honoring Roger and Beth Ailes, which raised more than $1 million.
The Green Beret Foundation provides immediate financial assistance to Green Berets who are injured in the line of duty, to their families and to the families of Green Berets killed in action. They also distribute funds to support an injured Green Beret's extended medical care. The United States Army Special Forces, or Green Berets as they are commonly known, take on the most dangerous missions behind enemy lines to protect our families and our freedom.
Major General David Morris (Ret.), Chairman of the Green Beret Foundation, said, "We are honored to appoint Ms. Mosbacher as the Chairman of the Board of Advisors. There is no one better to lead this effort."
In 2012, Ms. Mosbacher was the recipient of the Green Beret Foundation's first Steel Magnolia Award. As true keepers of the brave, this exclusive group of spouses and Gold Star wives, the "Steel Mags" – as they are affectionately known in military circles – have faced tragedy, challenges and adversity head-on.
Ms. Mosbacher will advise and assist the Green Beret Foundation across many programs, including The Next Ridgeline. Next Ridgeline is a comprehensive program, which will Train, Advise and Assist Green Berets as they transition to a new chapter in their life – integrating back into their families and communities. It provides resources to support transition across three main pillars: Redirection of their passion and purpose; strengthening Resilience in mind, body, and spirit; and Reintegration into the civilian world through employment and/or education.
"Next Ridgeline is an important and invaluable extension of the Green Beret Foundation's assistance to its Green Beret family," said Ms. Mosbacher. "I continue to be inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit and incredible resourcefulness among the Green Berets. Next Ridgeline looks to harness these character traits to fully transition our heroes from the battlefield to civilian life in their communities and the business arena."
Ms. Mosbacher is committed to advancing the truths of the Special Operations Forces:
- Humans are more important than Hardware.
- Quality is better than Quantity.
- Special Operations Forces cannot be mass-produced.
- Competent Special Operations Forces cannot be created after emergencies occur.
- Most Special Operations require non-SOF assistance
