'Green and Clean' Renewable Energy Leader to Address Rural Smart Grid Summit
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Focusing on the need to address climate change through a smarter electric grid, Terry Mohn, founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Balance Energy and a distinguished leader on renewable energy and environmental policies for utilities, will be a guest speaker at the Rural Smart Grid Summit (RSGS), beginning October 26th near San Juan, Puerto Rico.
"As serious environmental issues become part of the national dialogue, rural utilities are faced with not only technology upgrades, but also dealing with new systemic impact that occur behind the meter," said William Booth, Events Coordinator of the RSGS. "Attendees of the Summit will have exclusive insight of where technology innovation and environmental policy — 'Green and Clean' Smart Grid policies — are evolving in the foreseeable future."
The RSGS is an exclusive, invitation-only, fully paid event for the CEOs of eighty plus U.S. electric coops. The electric coops will interact in small, intimate venues with Smart Grid technology executives.
"We plan to focus this address on the systematic disturbances occurring from variable generation sources and the connection issues that technology suppliers, as well as utilities, are facing in this new renewable future," said Mr. Mohn. "Adding renewable energy resources into distribution and transmission power systems can be accomplished through a smarter power grid when the integration includes a coordinated control strategy."
At Balance Energy, Mohn is responsible for ensuring clean and renewable electric generation can reliably meet the demands of utilities, municipalities, and communities. Mohn has 30-years experience in large-scale system architecture, business strategy, and technology investment strategy. He serves as Vice Chairman of the GridWise Alliance, a consortium of public and private stakeholders who share a vision that the nation's electric system must modernize for the country to remain competitive on the world market.
IBM, IBEC, and Balance Energy serve as Title Sponsors of the RSGS, which is opened to any Smart Grid vendor interested in sponsoring this event. However, the sponsorships are exclusive and limited to about 40 companies that will discuss and disclose their Smart Grid solutions and products. Senior level discussions will take place at the RSGS that may disclose and help create collaboration on future products.
