Greeley and Hansen Supports Environmental Sustainability Through America in Bloom Sponsorship
CHICAGO, May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Greeley and Hansen, a leading national environmental engineering firm, is the newest sponsor of America in Bloom (AIB), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting nationwide beautification through education and community involvement by encouraging the use of flowers, plants, trees, and other environmental and lifestyle enhancements. As an environmentally focused technical firm, Greeley and Hansen supports AIB's mission and annual beautification program for cities and towns of all sizes, which provides a framework for continuous improvements by planting pride in communities. Over the past 10 years, nearly 200 cities from 38 states have experienced the many benefits that the AIB program has brought to their communities.
"While our direct line of business is focused on water, wastewater, and infrastructure engineering and architecture, ultimately, at Greeley and Hansen we create better urban environments by collaborating with municipalities to develop sustainable water resources programs for their communities," said John C. Robak, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. "Our focus on environmental sustainability is in lockstep with the mission and work of AIB, and we're proud to support their important efforts as a national sponsor."
"We're delighted to partner with Greeley and Hansen, a technical firm that supports our overall mission and truly understands that America in Bloom is about much more than just aesthetics," said Marvin N. Miller, PhD, President of AIB. "We know there are many positive economic, sociological, psychological, and environmental impacts when a city adopts the AIB program as its own. These range from reduced vandalism and other crimes to improved recreation and related health benefits. Many mayors and other officials of participating cities have told us that the program unified their city into a real community in ways they never thought possible," he added.
City of Lafayette, Indiana Mayor Tony Roswarski experienced the benefits of participating in the AIB program first-hand. "America in Bloom is a wonderful program that helps promote and support neighborhood pride, quality of life, economic development, and a genuine sense of community," said Roswarski. "Based on our city's experiences with the program a few years ago, I've found that it brings people together and helps with that old fashioned neighbor-to-neighbor interaction, with residents rolling up their sleeves and working together to make our city and the environment better for everyone. I am extremely pleased to see Greeley and Hansen as a sponsor of AIB and their commitment to helping to build strong foundations for stronger communities."
