Greeley and Hansen Appoints Two New Firm Principals
Fernando Sarmiento of Phoenix and Nicole Spieles of Detroit Promoted to Principals of Global Engineering Firm
CHICAGO, April 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Greeley and Hansen, a global civil and environmental engineering, architectural, and management consulting firm celebrating its 100th anniversary, has named Fernando Sarmiento and Nicole Spieles as principals. Both are accomplished engineers and leaders that exemplify Greeley and Hansen's core values of client commitment and dedication to providing quality service.
Sarmiento currently serves as Managing Director of the firm's Latin America Operating Group. He has extensive professional engineering experience with Greeley and Hansen, having managed a diverse range of water and wastewater programs and facility upgrade projects for major municipal utilities and agencies. He also previously served as Office Director of the firm's Phoenix operations.
Spieles is an Office Director with overall responsibility for the firm's Detroit operations. She has broad technical experience in the study, design, and construction of various water and wastewater facilities and has served as the project manager for major projects for key municipal utility clients in Michigan, New York, as well as for other clients across the U.S.

A registered Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional, Sarmiento is a Fulbright Scholar with a master's degree in environmental engineering from Arizona State University and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from National Polytechnic School, Quito, Ecuador. He is also a Board Certified Environmental Engineer of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and is a member of the Water Environment Federation, Arizona Water Association, the Project Management Institute, and the Association of Mechanical Engineers, Ecuador.
Spieles is a registered Professional Engineer with a master's degree in environmental engineering and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She is a member of the American Water Works Association, Water Environment Federation, and serves as the chair for several committees at the Michigan Water Environment Association (MWEA). Spieles also received an Outstanding Environmental Consultant of the Year award from MWEA in recognition of her professional excellence and outstanding efforts in publicly promoting the water environment profession.
