ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Teamsters Local 118 in Rochester, N.Y. is pleased to announce the ratification of a new four-year agreement with Greece Central School District.
The agreement, covering nearly 800 employees working within the central offices, food service, transportation and facility operations, was overwhelming approved by the membership.
Diane Keeley, a school bus driver for the school district for the past 17 years, praised the new agreement. "In this economy when so many have lost their jobs and are trying to hang on to healthcare, I am so happy that the Teamsters kept our healthcare intact and secured us a raise and retroactive pay back to July 1, 2013."
Highlights of the agreement include wage schedule increases of 10 percent over the term of the agreement and maintenance of the current healthcare plans. The agreement also provides new language that will help convert part-time hours into full-time benefit eligible positions within the transportation unit.
"Our members gave us a clear mandate to protect their healthcare benefits," said Mike Maynard, Vice President and Business Agent of Local 118. "We accomplished this goal and provided meaningful wage increases along with other contract language improvements."
