Greatland Reminds Businesses of State Filing Deadlines
Company's speedEfiler.com provides "every state" filing capabilities for year-end 1099 and W-2 reporting
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Individual state deadlines for W-2 and 1099 filing are right around the corner, with the majority set for February 28. Although state filing can vary by location and filing method, reporting is needed for 40 of the 50 states.
Greatland, the leading provider of W-2 and 1099 products for businesses, is raising the bar by equipping businesses with tools necessary to complete state year-end filing, regardless of the state or its unique reporting requirements. The company's online software, speedEfiler.com, lets small and mid-size businesses and professional accountants file W-2 and 1099 forms online, meeting all filing requirements for Federal, State and Recipient reporting in a few simple steps without the headache of additional paperwork.
speedEfiler.com is also the first retail electronic filing website to provide direct-to-state filing for all states with filing requirements for W-2 & 1099 MISC reporting. This feature provides customers with an easy way to get required information to state agencies on time. speedEfiler.com also provides status reports so customers can monitor the process and be assured their filings have been received.
"With most states requiring businesses to complete their state filing reporting by the end of the month, it's imperative that the process is handled accurately and timely to avoid penalties," said Bob Nault, Greatland's CEO. "We've found that our customers are often unclear and misinformed when it comes to state filing, so we have developed a comprehensive filing service they are already comfortable using."
State filing penalties vary by state and range from fines of $1 per statement to $100 for late filing or for failure to file. Most states that have penalties in place have a maximum limit that can range as high as $50,000 that the preparer can be fined for that year. Depending on the regulations per state, some allow for an extension to file.
From January through March, Greatland staffs a temporary state filing lab set up in Green Bay to assure regulations are up to date and all forms are filed properly according to state specifications. This unique facility puts customers' minds at ease, knowing that experts are monitoring every detail to prevent penalties.
Currently, 40 states have a W-2 or 1099-MISC state filing requirement. Both speedEfiler.com and FileTaxes.com facilitate the filings and applicable reconciliation forms. See the full list of state filing requirements below or visit speedEfiler.com for more information.
