Greatland Announces Record Increases in use of 1099 and W-2 Forms, Electronic Filing Products for 2009
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Greatland, one of the country's leading providers of W-2 and 1099 products for business, today released its 2009 tax year reporting statistics, noting substantial increases in the use of both general and electronic filing products and online filing technology, compared to 2008.
Companywide, Greatland and its subsidiaries recorded a 6.5% increase in customers purchasing W-2 and 1099 products in 2009, including wage and income reporting forms and related software. As more individuals and companies continue to transition toward electronic filing for reporting and taxes, Greatland noted a similar increase in electronic filing products. For the 2009 tax year, approximately 1.8 million forms were filed through Greatland's web-based electronic filing subsidiaries – primarily speedEfiler.com and Filetaxes.com – a 14% increase over the previous year.
Despite current economic conditions, the Greatland brand alone reported a 50% increase in new customers purchasing W-2 and 1099 products and services. Small businesses continued to be a strategic channel for the company as purchases of the brand's essential reporting or payment supplies (W-2 and 1099 products and checks) by small business customers increased by 26%.
"We are extremely pleased with our performance in 2009, particularly in light of the challenging economic environment, and are excited to move forward with our expanding portfolio of products and services in 2010," said Bob Nault, Greatland's CEO. "Bright spots throughout the past year included the launch of two new products, speedEfiler.com, a new web-based wage-reporting tool, and the Wage and Information Reporting Engine (WIRE™), an updated and enhanced version of the company's flagship product for developers of software products with accounting or payroll functions."
Nault added: "We believe our brand and the diversity of our product line provide important competitive advantages in any economic climate. In addition, we plan to continue to add key talent throughout the organization with important strategic hires in 2010.
