Greater Palm Springs, California Serves as the First North American Destination for 15th Annual Raid Amazones
270 women compete in a five-day fitness competition in Greater Palm Springs and California Desert Region from November 14-19, 2016
GREATER PALM SPRINGS, Calif., Nov. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- For its first time in North America, Raid Amazones, or the "Amazon Race," will take place in Greater Palm Springs and the California Desert Region. This 15th edition of the annual Raid Amazones is hosted by Visit California in collaboration with Discover Los Angeles and the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau. Nearly 270 women of all fitness levels will compete in a series of outdoor fitness adventures and competitions, as well as afternoon tourism experiences. The aim of Raid Amazones, founded by French television personality Alexandre Debanne, is to give women an opportunity to test their limits and support team building and female solidarity while discovering a new country, culture and scenery.
The format for the California race includes teams of two and three during five half-day challenges. Events include hiking, running, mountain biking, canoeing, archery, triathlons and more. The race will take place from Monday, November 14 through Saturday, November 19.
