Greater New Smyrna Beach Area Announces Fall "Beach Weeks"

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., Sept. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a successful summer season of events, the Greater New Smyrna Beach Area is excited to announce a fall "Beach Weeks" campaign, again taking place in Southeast Volusia County. The 10 week event festival will run from September 27^th, 2013 through November 30th, 2013.  The kick-off event for fall is the 13^th Annual New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival, featuring a variety of Jazz Musicians performing throughout New Smyrna Beach.

Beach Weeks was created with fun in mind, for people of all ages.

New Smyrna Beach has been voted "Best Beach" in the Orlando Sentinel's "Best Bets" competition seven years in a row (2007 - 2013), by Central Floridians. Last year, National Geographic Magazine named New Smyrna Beach one of "The World's Top 20 Surf Towns"; and  this year, renowned coastal expert, Professor Stephen Leatherman of FIU (aka, "Dr. Beach"), designated New Smyrna Beach one of "Florida's Top 10 Beach Towns" for USA Today.

Volusia County is already a global tourism hotspot that draws thousands to events like Speed Weeks and Bike Weeks in Daytona. "Beach Weeks" will utilize a similar events-driven approach to further raise the profile of the pristine beaches, active outdoor lifestyle and family-friendly character of New Smyrna Beach and Southeast Volusia County, which also includes the areas of Port Orange, Edgewater, Oak Hill and Osteen.
