DETROIT, July 1, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It began as an enhancement to a barbecue dinner fundraiser. The church would sell barbecue dinners to raise money, and the deacons would bring their classic cars to draw a crowd. Now 51-years later, it's a Motor City tradition that has developed into part of a grand celebration. The GGT Classic Car Show is but one part of Bishop's Birthday Block Party, which will sprawl across the entire 19-acre Greater Grace Temple (City of David) complex. It happens Saturday, July 6th, 2013, 12 noon to 8:00 p.m, and admission is FREE.
It's a full day of food, gospel music, games, prizes, rides for the kids, and of course, those classics, hot rods and new cars right off the showroom floor. More than 40 classics, hotrods and new cars will be on display. In addition to the cars, there will be a outdoor concert featuring some of the top names in gospel music. The concert features Vicki Winans (who was nominated for 7 Grammys and 13 Stellar Awards), Tim Bowman, Jr., and Darius Twyman. Plus, one of America's top funnymen, Akintunde.
