Great Park 'Movie on the Lawn'
'Where the Wild Things Are'
IRVINE, Calif., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Come see the movie that brings one of most beloved books of all time to the big screen. Where the Wild Things Are will be at the Great Park's "Movie on the Lawn" on Saturday, March 27th at 7:30 p.m. Grab your blanket, beach chair and picnic and come to the Great Park "Movie on the Lawn." Admission and parking are free.
Where the Wild Things Are, rated PG, tells the story of Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy who feels misunderstood at home and escapes to where the Wild Things are. Max lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions.
"Movie on the Lawn" is presented as part of "Chess at the Park," a 3-day free public event at the Great Park centered on the State Scholastic Chess Championships. Activities include kids' crafts, sports activities, chess games and more.
"More than 1,200 visitors enjoyed the 'Movie on the Lawn' series last year, and we're happy to be able to tie one fun activity to another with Chess at the Park," said Mike Ellzey, Chief Executive Officer of the Orange County Great Park Corporation. "This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a full day of free activities at the Park, from morning till night."
Where the Wild Things Are is directed by Spike Jonze. It stars Paul Dano, Forest Whitaker, Mark Ruffalo, Catherine Keener, Catherine O'Hara, Max Records, Lauren Ambrose, James Gandolfini and Chris Cooper.
