Great Minds with Michael Medved, a new audio and video podcast from Discovery Institute
SEATTLE, Jan. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In a culture dominated by the 24-hour news cycle, polarizing rhetoric, and a shallow entertainment industry, looking for information that really matters can be a discouraging task. In that light, Discovery Institute is launching Great Minds with Michael Medved, a trailblazing new program hosted by acclaimed national radio personality Michael Medved, where listeners can wrestle with tough questions and big ideas.
"On Great Minds we're more concerned with deeper and more consequential subjects," says Medved, who helms a daily three-hour broadcast for the Salem Radio Network that reaches more than 3.5 listeners on more than 200 stations. "We can not only cover topics in greater depth, but also pursue material of more wide-ranging breadth — touching on crucial questions of culture, philosophy, art, media, science, economics, history and theology."
The Great Minds podcast will publish two new episodes each month, featuring an array of first-class thinkers, artists, and public figures exploring a multitude of issues, including those related to public policy, science, and culture. The Q&A back and forth style, where a single interview can span multiple episodes, allows Medved and his guests to fully explore their topics, diving down to the deeper issues and questions.
Featured guests during the first season will include Academy Award-nominated screenwriter and director Randall Wallace. Author of the screenplays for Braveheart and many other Hollywood productions, Wallace has also directed hit films such as Secretariat and Heaven Is for Real. Other guests include renowned computer scientist and Yale professor David Gelernter, philosopher of science and bestselling author Stephen C. Meyer, economist and Executive Editor of The Stream Jay W. Richards, and CSU historian Richard Weikart, author of The Death of Humanity.
"In a world where the big questions are so often drowned out by sound bites, this program is sorely needed," said John West, Vice President of Discovery Institute. "We are hoping that Great Minds with Michael Medved becomes for our generation what the classic show Firing Line with William Buckley was for an earlier generation: a lively, accessible way to explore really important ideas."
