Great Hurricane Blowout Dine in the Dark Sweepstakes
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It's not too late to share your "power free" recipes and be entered to win a trip for two to Destination Kohler in beautiful Kohler, WI. Kohler is sponsoring the sweepstakes as a part of the "Dine in the Dark" phase of the Great Hurricane Blowout (Blowout). The trip to Kohler, valued at $1,600, includes an overnight stay for two at the American Club in Kohler, WI, two spa treatments at Kohler Waters Spa and two dinners prepared by Chef Ulrich Koberstein.
"Dine in the Dark" encourages families to think outside of the box about the types of meals they can enjoy together if they are without power for a period of time following a hurricane. By planning unique, delicious recipes in advance, families can be sure to have sufficient supplies on hand as a part of their emergency kits well before a storm strike is eminent.
"Kohler's participation in the Great Hurricane Blowout and their continued, generous support allows us to continue to educate and prepare families for hurricanes," said Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, Inc – FLASH® President/CEO Leslie Chapman-Henderson. "Dine in the Dark is a fun way for families to consider what types of provisions they will need in their emergency kits to keep the family fed in a post-hurricane situation. By building recipes together and planning ahead, they can make sure that all of the needs of the family are being met."
"Destination Kohler is home to the only AAA Five Diamond resort in the Midwest. Winners of the 'Dine in the Dark' sweepstakes are in for quite an experience," said Ulrich Koberstein, director of culinary arts for Kohler.
"Chef Koberstein is a world renowned chef and having him work with us on this project has been great. A challenge like a 'power-free' meal is something he has been able to sink his teeth into, and our winners will have the opportunity to sample his creativity," added Chapman-Henderson.
To enter the recipe contest, families will have to submit a unique recipe using food that can be prepared in a power outage. Once the recipe has been perfected, families should visit www.greathurricaneblowout.org and go to the Dine in the Dark section to submit their recipe. The deadline for entry is August 31, 2010.
Peak hurricane season, the time when hurricane development is most likely, begins on August 15th. Families are encouraged to continue to be diligent about their hurricane plans and visit www.greathurricaneblowout.org to make sure they can "breathe easy" no matter what peak hurricane season may bring. The Blowout is an endeavor of the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, Inc. - FLASH®. Sponsored by Kohler and State Farm, the Blowout is an innovative approach to raising public awareness about hurricane preparation.
