WARREN, N.H., April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mayors Against Illegal Guns announced today that Granite Staters will storm town halls in New Hampshire this week to demand answers from Senator Kelly Ayotte on why she recently voted with the Washington gun lobby and against the 89 percent of New Hampshire voters who support commonsense, life-saving background checks for all gun sales. The bipartisan legislation Ayotte voted against was proposed by Senators Joe Manchin and Pat Toomey, and would have closed the loopholes that make it easy for criminals and dangerous people to get guns. It has recently been reported that Senator Ayotte's approval ratings have decreased 15 percent since her 'no' vote on background checks.
Events are coordinated with help from concerned Granite Staters and members of the following groups: Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Moms Demand Action, Granite State Progress, Organizing for Action, and the New Hampshire Project for Safer Communities. Event details for this week are below.

About Mayors Against Illegal Guns
Since its creation in April 2006, Mayors Against Illegal Guns has grown from 15 members to more than 900 mayors from across the country. We have more than 1.5 million grassroots supporters, making us the largest gun violence prevention advocacy organization in the country. The bipartisan coalition, co-chaired by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, has united the nation's mayors around these common goals: protecting communities by holding gun offenders accountable; demanding access to crime gun trace data that is critical to law enforcement efforts to combat gun trafficking; and working with legislators to fix weaknesses and loopholes in the law that make it far too easy for criminals and other dangerous people to get guns.
