SACRAMENTO, Calif., Feb. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Sacramento-area plastic surgeon Dr. Christa Clark has been accepted into the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, a professional organization comprised of plastic surgeons who demonstrate the highest standard of training, surgical expertise, and ethics in aesthetic medicine.
Dr. Clark comments: "The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery includes the most highly-esteemed plastic surgeons worldwide, and I am genuinely honored to be selected as a member. Joining ASAPS will allow me to more deeply engage with the latest research, ideas, and innovation in the aesthetic plastic surgery speciality—a privilege that ultimately benefits patients in terms of surgical techniques and technology."
Dr. Clark notes that becoming a member of ASAPS is especially meaningful as a female plastic surgeon—at the time of this release, Dr. Clark is one of only two female plastic surgeons in the Sacramento area listed as an ASAPS member: "I have always felt a strong sense of duty to be a role model for other women aspiring to excellence, in whatever field they choose. Joining ASAPS represents a step in the right direction for women in an historically male-dominated specialty." She continues, "Ultimately, I look forward to having new opportunities to collaborate with other top-level plastic surgeons who share a common passion: to continually improve the care, treatment options, and outcomes we can offer our patients."
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), was established in 1967 with a mission to advance the art and science of aesthetic medicine by bringing together the most highly-qualified aesthetic plastic surgeons. Today, ASAPS consists of approximately 2,600 board certified plastic surgeons across the United States, Canada, and worldwide.
To be eligible for membership, a plastic surgeon must complete an accredited plastic surgery residency, achieve board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery or international equivalent, and document at least 75 aesthetic surgery cases in the 18 months before joining. Additionally, the plastic surgeon must be endorsed by two active ASAPS members.
