Grand Gold Award to BHCC for Midnight Courses Media Campaign in International Competition

BOSTON, July 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At the annual conference of CASE, held in New York City from July 18-20, Bunker Hill Community College received a top award, Grand Gold, for its Midnight Courses media campaign. Headquartered in Washington D.C., with offices in London and Singapore, CASE is the major organization for education professionals in communications, marketing, fundraising and alumni relations. In this international competition, BHCC was the only community college to win a top award this year. The College was competing against all levels of institutions of higher education, including major 4-year public and private colleges and universities. Only 17 out of a total of 2,700 entries garnered a Grand Gold award this year. Other 2010 Grand Gold winners include: The University of Cambridge (UK), Barnard College, University of California, Berkeley, York University (Canada), and Tulane University.

BHCC President Dr. Mary L. Fifield, and Dr. Colleen Roach, Executive Director of Communications and Marketing, showcased the College's winning media strategy by making a presentation at the Conference.

In selecting BHCC for a Grand Gold award, CASE recognized the wide-ranging media coverage of the Midnight Courses. Front page media coverage included: The New York Times, the Boston Globe, and the Boston Business Journal. The AP wire service also covered the story, which then was picked up by major media across the country, including the Washington Post, the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Baltimore Sun, Washington Times, the Sacramento Bee and the San Diego Union Tribune. International coverage included: The International Herald Tribune and articles in Dubai and Vietnam.

Bunker Hill Community College is the largest community college in Massachusetts. The College enrolls more than 11,700 students on two campuses and at four satellite locations. BHCC is one of the most diverse institutions of higher education in Massachusetts. Six in ten students are people of color and more than half of BHCC's students are women. The College also enrolls more than 700 international students who come from more than 95 countries and speak 75 different languages.
