Grady Recertified As Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center
ATLANTA, Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Grady Hospital's Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center has again earned certification as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, an independent accrediting agency for health care organizations across the country.
Recertification of the comprehensive stroke center designation solidifies Grady's position as a national leader, providing cutting-edge stroke care. The Joint Commission designation can only be earned by a multidisciplinary team that demonstrates the unique skills necessary to care for the most severe and challenging types of stroke.
"The extraordinary medical team and facilities at the Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center have raised the bar for stroke care in metro Atlanta and across the region," said Dr. Michael Frankel, Grady's Chief of Neurology and Director of the Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center and Professor and Director of Vascular Neurology at the Emory University School of Medicine.
Advanced Certification for Comprehensive Stroke Centers recognizes an elite group of stroke centers that provide state-of-the-art stroke care and allocate significant resources in staff, training and infrastructure towards treatment of complex stroke. To become certified, The Joint Commission requires that organizations meet several rigorous standards related to research, diagnosis, imaging, surgical procedures, in-patient care and post-hospital patient care.
