"Georgia Power and the Southern Company played a key role in making the project a reality," said Grady Health Foundation President Lisa Borders. "This state-of-the-art facility will aid our doctors and nurses in providing the best possible care to patients who suffer from a variety of burn injuries and related complications."
The Grady Burn Center provides comprehensive care for pediatric and adult patients. One of only two burn centers in the state, the newly remodeled facility includes 23 intensive and intermediate care beds and a new outpatient clinic for the treatment of less serious burns and follow-up care.
"Just as Georgia Power and the Southern Company provide an essential service for the citizens of our state, so does the Grady Burn Center. Our corporate philosophy is to be a citizen wherever we serve. I can think of no better way to demonstrate our commitment, corporate citizenship and service to our employees and the people of Georgia than to support top quality burn care for all who need it," said Mike Garrett.
The Grady Burn Center admits more than 400 patients each year and averages two-thousand outpatient visits annually. Care is provided by a team of specialists certified in critical burn and advanced wound care for adults and children.
The Burn Center also has specially designed hydrotherapy tables that provide precisely regulated temperature and pressure controls, allowing a hygienic and safe way to bathe and provide wound care for critically injured patients. The Grady Burn Center also features a rehabilitation gym where patients receive physical and occupational therapy to help them reintegrate into their normal lives.
A highly qualified team of surgeons, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, dietitians and psychologists staffs the Grady Burn Center. Each staff member is certified in critical burn and advanced wound care for adults and children.
Grady CEO, Mike Young, was clear about the Center's ability to serve Georgians who are victims of burns. "Our newly remodeled center will allow us to continue the exceptional care and attention to burn victims across the state for children and adults alike. We are certainly honored to have Southern Company and Georgia Power as our partners".
The Grady Burn Center is located on the third floor of Grady Memorial Hospital.
