GPA, GPSA announce 2014 - 2015 officers
TULSA, Okla., April 30, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Gas Processors Association (GPA) and Gas Processors Suppliers Association (GPSA) recently announced officers elected to lead the respective organizations. The officers were confirmed at the 93rd annual GPA Convention held in Dallas earlier this month.
GPA is a trade association serving operating companies in the midstream energy sector; its officers are elected to one-year terms.
Joel Moxley, Crestwood's senior vice president, operations services, will lead GPA as chairman of the board for a second term. Moxley is responsible for Crestwood's environmental, safety and regulatory; engineering and optimization; insurance; human resources; and information technology divisions. He has been involved with the GPA board of directors for more than 10 years and has been active in leading the association's legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts since 2011.
John Mollenkopf, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MarkWest Energy Partners, will serve as chairman-elect for a second term. His career spans more than three decades in the energy industry with several executive-level positions, including 12 years with MarkWest Energy Partners and five years with MarkWest Hydrocarbon. Prior to joining MarkWest, he worked for ARCO Oil and Gas Co., holding various positions in process and project engineering. Mollenkopf has served on the GPA board for four years.
GPA has three vice chairmen: Richard (Rick) Cargile, Wouter van Kempen, and Bill Ward.
Cargile is president of Energy Transfer Partners' (ETP) midstream. He joined ETP in 2012 with more 30 years of midstream experience. Cargile is responsible for overseeing operations of ETP's midstream assets including gathering and processing, intrastate and interstate pipelines, gas storage, Lone Star NGL, Standard Equipment Co. (compression packaging affiliate), and PEI Power Corp. (electric generation affiliate). Additionally, he is responsible for corporate engineering, environmental, health and safety, and materials management across the Energy Transfer enterprise. He has served on GPA's program committee and enters his fourth year as a board member; this will be his second term as a GPA officer.
Newly elected GPA Vice Chairman van Kempen is chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of DCP Midstream and chairman and chief executive officer of DCP Midstream Partners. Previously, he served as president and chief operating officer of DCP Midstream, leading the gathering and processing business unit and the marketing and logistics business unit, which includes natural gas liquids (NGL) and gas marketing, and NGL, gas, and crude logistics. He has held numerous leadership positions with the company, as well as with Duke Energy and General Electric Corp. prior to joining DCP Midstream. Van Kempen has served on the GPA board since 2012.
Ward, also a newly elected vice chairman, is vice president of gas supply and business development for Superior Pipeline Co. His career in the natural gas industry started in 1985 with Rockland Pipeline Co. Since then, he has held leadership positions in the industry with Burlington Resources, Mitchell Gas Services and Devon Gas Services before joining Superior Pipeline in 2008. Ward served as chairman of GPA's program committee in 2013 and has served as a board member since 2009.
GPSA, also a trade association, is GPA's sister organization representing its members of service and supply companies in the midstream industry. Its officers are appointed by the association's board of directors and serve one-year terms. The 2014 – 2015 officers are:
- President David Bardeen, director of sales, Ariel Corp.
- First Vice President Sean Sullivan, chairman, president and CEO, Elkhorn Holdings
- Second Vice President Steve Tzap, CEO, ZAP Engineering and Construction Services
- Treasurer Stan Dorak, regional sales manager, Coastal Chemical
The officers assumed their new responsibilities upon the conclusion of the GPA Convention, which brought 2,600 midstream industry professionals together to share information about research and development, safe operations and environmental performance, and legislative and regulatory issues, among others.
