Govini Releases 2015 Federal Scorecard of Agency Spending and Contractor Ranking
Scorecard provides insight into how top contractors are faring in competition for public sector business
SAN FRANCISCO and ARLINGTON, Va., March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Govini, the leading business intelligence provider to government contractors, today released its 2015 Federal Scorecard. The annual Scorecard, which is derived from Govini's extensive database of record, provides an agency-by-agency analysis of vendor, contract and agency performance.
In this year's Scorecard, Govini found that 2014 was highly competitive for Federal contractors, with total contract outlays down by 4 percent. The Department of Defense saw the greatest overall decrease in dollars spent, with nearly $9 billion year-over-year decreases in both the Navy and Army. The Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of the Treasury led in terms of decreased overall contract spend at 20.3 percent and 18.7 percent, respectively. Many civilian agencies fared better, with The Department of State increasing spending on security and program management services overseas for a total of $9.3 billion in contracts, representing a 25.2 percent increase from 2013. The Commerce Department saw the greatest overall percentage increase at 27.7 percent to $2.9 billion, driven primarily by technical engineering and IT systems development projects at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
The top vendor in this year's Scorecard was Lockheed Martin, which led Air Force ($8.6 billion), Department of Energy ($2.7 billion), NASA ($1.7 billion), GSA ($254.2 million) and the Department of Transportation ($647.9 million) in contract revenue captured. Other top vendors included General Dynamics, which led Navy for $9 billion in contract revenue, and The Boeing Company, which led Army with $2.5 billion in revenue. Accenture PLC was also notable for moving up four spots in Department of State contracts from last year and moving up 16 spots in Department of Interior contract rankings.
"The annual Scorecard gives the market an opportunity to look at Federal spending from a macro level and, through analytics, explain the trends that drove major contracts and procurements in the past year," said Eric Gillespie, Founder and CEO of Govini. "The Scorecard is important for two key reasons. First, it gives businesses that sell to public sector an understanding of the trends that are driving budget decisions and contracts. Second, it gives the American public insight into how its tax dollars are being allocated by elected officials. Armed with this knowledge, contractors have a prognostic view of the business opportunities that will arise over the next twelve months."
