Governor Rendell Orders Flags at Capitol and in Lehigh County to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Spc. Jesse D. Reed
HARRISBURG, Pa., July 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today ordered all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and on commonwealth facilities in Lehigh County to be flown at half-staff in honor of Army Spc. Jesse D. Reed, of Orefield.
Authorities said Spc. Reed, 26, was killed in Zabul province, Afghanistan, from wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his military vehicle with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 27th Engineer Battalion (Combat Airborne), 20th Engineer Brigade (Combat), based at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Flags will remain at half-staff through sunset on Friday, July 23.
