Governor Quinn, Attorney Leving & Father Pfleger Join Forces at St. Sabina to Stop the Violence
CHICAGO, Oct. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Governor-appointed Attorney Jeffery M. Leving of the Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood (ICRF) moderated the 2014 Annual Fatherhood Symposium at St. Sabina Church in Chicago. The Symposium was a powerful call for fathers to unite for the protection of children in response to the pandemic of street violence. Father involvement has been shown to reduce crime, improve academic test scores, and encourage confidence in children. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn congratulated Leving, a pioneering attorney in the Fathers' Rights Movement "on a lifetime of advocacy for justice."
Father Michael Pfleger welcomed attendees including United States Congressman Danny K. Davis, and offered a profound perspective on stopping the violence and vowed to continue his fight by partnering with ICRF and Attorney Leving. Father Pfleger proclaimed to Leving, "I respect the work you do and WE will stop the violence."
Additional presenters, matrimonial attorneys James Hagler and Maureen Gorman from the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd., shared their knowledge of complex domestic relations strategies and responded to questions about stopping the violence, unifying families and the rights of fathers.
Retired FBI Special Agent, Robert Messemer's presentation on Protecting Our Children from Internet Risks provided insight to raising children in the Internet age. Messemer is best known for cracking the Rodney King case.
The ICRF is comprised of experts from all professions and walks of life. Each member is dedicated to strengthening families by supporting responsible fatherhood in Illinois.
Chairman Leving, a fathers' rights attorney and advocate serves as chairman of the ICRF without compensation to strengthen paternal involvement in all communities in Illinois. His latest book, How to Be a Good Divorced Dad, was endorsed by the Archdiocese of Chicago and praised by President Obama.
"The ICRF is here to help discover a solution to the issue of father absence and contribute resources to support all fathers in all communities everywhere," said Chairman Leving.
Chairman Leving and ICRF council members want to ensure that fathers are provided the essential support and parenting tools to succeed in the important role they play in their children's lives.
