ANNAPOLIS, Md., Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanks to a proclamation by Gov. Hogan, Jan. 20-26 has been declared Maryland School Choice Week. In issuing the proclamation, Gov. Hogan joined more than a dozen governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide who have officially recognized School Choice Week.
School choice supporters, including parents and teachers, have planned 614 events and activities across the state of Maryland, such as rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more. These events aim to spark conversations about the educational opportunities parents have, or want to have, for their children.
More than 40,000 events have been independently planned for the week nationwide, raising awareness about opportunity in education.
"We are grateful to Gov. Hogan for his support of Maryland parents as they raise awareness about educational opportunity," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "We wish Marylanders the best in their National School Choice Week celebrations."
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
