Governor Corbett Visits Seniors at Pittsburgh Area Nursing Home
Delivers a special gift to a patient at the Crystal Conservatories St. Baranabas
VALENCIA, Pa., Dec. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today visited the Crystal Conservatories at St. Barnabas to participate in the PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® program. The program brings in volunteers to personally deliver a meaningful gift to residents at the nursing home.
"This is what the holiday season is all about, being able to bring some joy and a smile to friends, family and loved ones," Corbett said. "The PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® program ensures that nursing home residents get a gift in person on the holidays, which can mean so much at this time of year."
Corbett delivered the last gift of the season to Lois Siess, a patient at The Arbors at St. Barnabas in Valencia. The gift, a pictorial book about Hawaii, was chosen for Mrs. Siess because it was the location of one of her favorite and most memorable vacations.
"We are honored for Governor Corbett to present the final gift of the season to a nursing home patient. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the amazing efforts of the PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® holiday program," said Valerie Day Wilden, spokesperson for PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS®.
The PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® program is in its 29th year serving nursing home patients. It has helped over 29,000 patients in several states. For the patients, it is often the personal visit that means the most.
