Governor Corbett Proclaims October as Arts and Humanities Month in Pennsylvania

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Corbett has declared October 2013 as Arts and Humanities Month in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Throughout the month, organizations nationwide encourage all Americans to explore new facets of the arts and humanities in their lives, and to begin a lifelong habit of active participation in the arts and humanities. In the 20 years since it was established, it has become the nation's largest collective annual celebration of the arts.

The official proclamation states "the arts and humanities provide us with the opportunity to engage with our communities, embrace cultural differences, think creatively, critically and analytically and foster a greater understanding about the world which we live in." 

"The arts and humanities enhance every aspect of our lives. Through their transformative power, we connect with one another and creatively address issues and solve problems in our communities. Governor Corbett's Proclamation will help to elevate the profile of the arts and humanities and its importance in everyone's life and work in Pennsylvania," said Laurie Zierer, Pennsylvania Humanities Council Executive Director.
