Governor Corbett Pays Tribute to Fallen Law Enforcement Officers

HARRISBURG, Pa., May 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today paid tribute to Pennsylvania's fallen law enforcement officers during a ceremony at the state Capitol in Harrisburg.

Pennsylvania officers killed in the line of duty in 2010 were Trooper Paul Ritchey of the Pennsylvania State Police; Cpl. Christopher Milito of the Delaware River Port Authority; and Wildlife Conservation Officer David Grove of the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

"When a law enforcement officer dies in the line of duty, he or she gives their life to the very principles and foundation of civilized society," Corbett said in his keynote remarks. "It remains our duty to remember those officers. We must never forget their names, nor forget the sacrifice their families are asked to bear."

The ceremony included the presentation of a memorial wreath. Family members placed flowers on the wreath in honor of the fallen officers. They also were presented with medals recognizing the bravery of their loved ones in serving their local communities, Pennsylvania and the nation.

Today's ceremony was organized by the Pennsylvania State Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police.
