Governor Corbett: Leading Professional Services Firm Will Expand Operations in Pittsburgh, Create 125 Jobs
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett announced today that state economic development efforts will enable PwC US, a leading professional services firm, to expand its operations in Pittsburgh and create at least 125 high-paying jobs.
"This success story is one of many in Pittsburgh, and a symbol of the 'Steel City's' impressive transition to a 21st century economy that offers high-paying professional jobs like the ones created by PwC," Corbett said. "My administration is committed to improving our business climate and making smart investments to make sure jobs continue coming to Pennsylvania."
PwC will expand its Pittsburgh office by leasing an additional 12,000 square feet at its current location at the U.S. Steel Tower. The $3 million project will create at least 125 jobs within three years, which will add to PwC's existing presence in the community of 400 professionals.
The project was coordinated by the Governor's Action Team (GAT), a group of economic development professionals who work directly with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania. GAT provides site-selection assistance, coordinates the involvement of other state agencies as needed, and packages the appropriate economic development funding for the project.
PwC received a $431,250 funding offer from the Department of Community and Economic Development, including a $125,000 opportunity grant, $56,250 in job-training assistance and $250,000 in job-creation tax credits.
"PwC has been part of the Pittsburgh community for decades and we are extremely pleased to be expanding our presence here. The region is home to many leading companies and a strong talent pool, and we are committed to serving the market for the long haul," said Robert McCutcheon, managing partner of PwC's Pittsburgh office and leader of the firm's U.S. Industrial Products practice.
