Governor Corbett Appoints Gerald Robinson to Chair the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today named Gerald S. Robinson, an attorney from Lancaster, to chair the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission. Robinson has been a commission member since 2009.
"Gerry Robinson is an experienced arbitrator and community leader, and I believe he is the ideal choice to lead the Human Relations Commission's important efforts to ensure all Pennsylvanians receive the rights to which they are entitled by law," Corbett said.
The 11-member commission enforces Pennsylvania's anti-discrimination laws and promotes equal opportunity. The commission's administrative, legal and investigative staff is overseen by an executive director in Harrisburg and regional directors in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
Robinson, who has practiced law for more than 30 years, is managing partner of Robinson & Geraldo, a law firm he co-founded. Although the firm handles cases involving most aspects of the law, Gerry concentrates his efforts in business development.
In addition to his legal work, Robinson is active in numerous community organizations and has served on many non-profit boards.
Robinson holds degrees from Howard University and Howard University School of Law. He is a member of the Dauphin County and Lancaster County Bar Associations as well as the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Gerry and his wife, Yvette, have been married for 27 years. They have two adult children; a son and a daughter.
Robinson succeeds Stephen A. Glassman, who recently resigned as chairman to take a new job.
