BOSTON, Jan. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanks to an official proclamation from Gov. Baker, Jan. 20-26 will officially be Massachusetts School Choice Week. Gov. Baker joins dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide who have recognized School Choice Week with similar proclamations.
More than 40,000 events have been independently planned for the week nationwide, raising awareness about opportunity in education. More than 400 of these events and activities will take place across the state of Massachusetts and will include festivals, school fairs, roundtable discussions, and a rally—complete with student poetry and music performances—at the Capitol building. These events aim to spark conversations about the educational opportunities parents have, or want to have, for their children.
"Massachusetts parents, like parents everywhere, want the best education for their children, and this week provides them a chance to celebrate the choices they already have as well as voice their support for increased school choice," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "We're grateful for Bay Staters' enthusiasm and to Gov. Baker for supporting them in that."
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
