DATE FARMINGDALE, N.Y., June 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Professor Gilbert Gordon of Oxford, Ohio has been recognized for his partnership with Aaron Rosenblatt as the Business of the Year 2016 by America's Registry of Outstanding Professionals.
The consulting firm of Gordon & Rosenblatt was established in 2009 by Professor Gilbert Gordon (Miami University-Ohio) and Aaron Rosenblatt. The firm headquarters in New York City and is known internationally for its expertise in oxyhalogens, a chemical class that includes ozone, chlorine gas, chlorine dioxide, hypochlorite (bleach) and monochloramines. These are used to disinfect public water supplies, cooling water, wastewater, recreational water and most recently as supplemental disinfectants for domestic water in buildings.
Gilbert Gordon, Ph.D., was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is the Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Dr. Gordon received his B.S. degree at Bradley University, his Ph.D. at Michigan State University and his Postdoctoral at the University of Chicago. He specializes in drinking water research, dynamics of chemical reactions (chemical kinetics), reactions of chlorine dioxide, chlorine and ozone (disinfectants and oxidizing agents) and analytical chemistry. Dr. Gordon has numerous honors and awards to his credit including: Visiting Professor as a guest of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science; Chemist of the Year (1981) from the Cincinnati Section of the American Chemical Society; Distinguished Scientist (1982) from the Technical Societies Council, Cincinnati; Sigma Xi Researcher of the Year (1982) from the Miami University Chapter and the Prestigious Miami University Benjamin Harrison Medallion (1993) for Outstanding National and International Contributions to Education and Research to name a few. He is affiliated with the American Chemical Society, is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemists and is a member of the American Water Works Association, the Chemical Society of London, a Fellow of the Ohio Academy of Science and a Life Member of Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Gordon has published numerous works including co-authoring "Measuring Oxidant Species in Electrolyzed Salt Brine Solutions," "A Comparison of Sulfite Ion and Reduced Iron for the Removal of Bromate Ion," "Preliminary Data on the Fate of Bromate Ion in Simulated Gastric Juices" and "Bleach 2001." He also was the author of "Residual Ozone Measurement: Indigo Sensitivity Coefficient Adjustment." He has served as a consultant to many environmental agencies and water works districts. He has been married to his wife Joyce since 1957. They reside in Oxford, Ohio, where Dr. Gordon enjoys wine tasting, evaluation and collecting.
Aaron Rosenblatt is an Advisor to NSF International on matters involving premise plumbing and public health. His work for NSF International includes the development of the education and training programs HACCP for Building Water Systems. He is a member of ASHRAE Standard Project Committee 188, Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems, a member of NSF International Standard Project Committee 444, Prevention of Disease and Injury Associated with Premise Plumbing, a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standards Committee on Disinfection of Facilities and a member of NSF International Biofilm Protocol Committee. Prior to co-founding Gordon & Rosenblatt, he started a series of companies that, over the course of more than 35 years, developed, produced, sold and serviced proprietary products used for sterilization and disinfection. He is the inventor or co-inventor of more than twenty-five US patents, patents pending and corresponding foreign patents, most pertaining to oxy-halogen compositions, processes and applications. He has served on the Board of the International Ozone Association-Pan American Group (IOA-PAG). He also has served as a member of the AWWA Disinfection and Disinfectants Committees and the Microbial and Disinfection By-Product (M/DBP) Technical Advisory Workgroup during regulatory negotiations for USEPA M/DBP Rule II. He is a past Trustee of the Chemists' Club of New York and past Chairman of the Chemists' Club Library. He is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University (BA).
