The Ava Awards received more than 1,700 entries from throughout the United States and several other countries. The awards recognize outstanding work by creative professionals involved in conceptualizing, writing, directing, shooting and editing audio-visual materials and programs. Goodwill's video featured Wendy Wallo, Anthony Cornell and Christie Jarrell — three of the nearly two million people who benefited from Goodwill's employment and career services last year.
"Goodwill is an innovative social enterprise that is made up of individual Goodwill agencies, each of which provides job training programs, employment placement services and other community-based programs funded through the sale of donated goods," said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. "The video demonstrates the impact of these services on communities and families and how Goodwill makes the most of the public's donations."
The communications and public affairs team at Goodwill Industries International produced the video with a group of freelance crewmembers. Winners were selected from more than 160 categories in three divisions: Television Productions, Video/Film Productions and Web/New Media.
"The Ava Award is designed to pay tribute to the magnificent history of the audio-visual industry," said Ed Dalheim, Ava Awards Director. "Goodwill Industries International's two platinum awards are among the most outstanding submissions in the competition; recognized for excellence in quality and creativity."
Special thanks to the Goodwill Industries Serving Central Virginia and Hampton Roads, Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina and Goodwill of Greater Washington for their contributions to this video project.
