Goodwill Industries International Reaches Guidestar Exchange Gold Level
Goodwill® Demonstrates Its Commitment to Transparency, Impact
ROCKVILLE, Md., Aug. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Goodwill Industries International reached the Gold-level of participation in the GuideStar Exchange for its demonstrated commitment to transparency. GuideStar USA, the premier source of nonprofit information, collects, organizes and publishes information on the programs, finances, and impact of more than 1.8 million IRS-recognized nonprofits. Gold is the most elite level of the organization's transparency program, GuideStar Exchange.
GuideStar's Exchange program is designed to connect nonprofits with current and potential supporters. The program's gold, silver and bronze participation levels are structured to recognize nonprofits based on the amount of information they share with the public. To qualify for the Gold, Goodwill Industries International provided Guidestar an audited financial report and extensive information about its operations, and completed the Charting Impact report, which includes concise, detailed information about Goodwill's plans and progress on key initiatives in order to demonstrate the difference the organization is making in communities across North America.
"Goodwill® has worked hard to showcase our progress toward our mission, and our long-held belief in being transparent about our work to our community," said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. "Through the GuideStar Exchange, we are able to share a wealth of up-to-date information about our work with our supporters as well as with GuideStar's impressive user base of nonprofits, grant makers, individual donors and the media."
Of the nation's more than 1.8 million nonprofit organizations, just more than 3,000 have received GuideStar's Gold level of recognition.
