Goodland Elks to Start Food Pantry for Genesis
CHICAGO, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With some help from the Elks National Foundation, the charitable arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Goodland Elks will purchase food to stock the shelves at Genesis food pantry every month. The Lodge will expand the program this year to help out with USDA TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) as well. This means they will also work to provide things such as bread and eggs.
Food Pantry for Genesis will be funded by an Impact Grant awarded to the Goodland Elks by the Elks National Foundation. Impact Grants are the newest addition to the Elks National Foundation's Community Investments Program. They are competitive grants designed to help Elks make a difference in their community. This year, Goodland Elks Lodge No. 1528 is one of 49 recipients nationwide to receive an Impact Grant. The grants range from $2,500 to $10,000.
