Auto insurance group offers discount to drivers that install text blocking devices.

Customers receive 5% off bodily injury, property damage, and collision coverage per vehicle when they install a device that blocks distracting phone functions such as text messaging, email, and Internet browsing. To receive the discount, drivers simply install a qualifying text blocking device in their vehicle and provide a copy of the receipt as proof of purchase via email, fax, or postal service. Text blockers are hardware/software that disables the data functions of the phone (e.g. texting, email, and Internet browsing) while the vehicle is in motion, allowing essential call functionality such as 911 emergency calls.
The state of Alabama is serious about texting and driving. In 2012, The Alabama Anti-Text Law was put into effect and prohibits any driver from using any wireless device to send, read or write text messages or emails while a vehicle is in motion. Violating this law is a primary offense which means you will be ticketed and fined if caught. Fines range from $25 for a first offense to $75 for subsequent offenses. Violators will also receive 2 points on their driving record for each offense and face a 60 day license suspension if a driver accumulates 12 or more points in 2 years.
Alabama joins 42 other states in banning text messaging while driving.
