SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Good Technology™, the leader in secure mobility, today announced the industry's first hassle-free bring-your-own-device (BYOD) solution with a corporate data plan, based on the company's recently announced Good secure mobile collaboration app. This enables significant reduction in the need for corporate data stipends, while at the same time protecting end-user personal privacy. The company also announced the introduction of split billing across the Good Dynamics Secure Mobility Platform.
According to Gartner, today roughly half of BYOD programs provide a partial reimbursement, and full reimbursement for all costs will become rare[1]. This directly correlates to the complexity enterprises are facing as end-users are utilizing their personal data plans in order to access business apps on their mobile devices. Different approaches to address this problem include providing stipends or having users expense back data usage. However, implementing those programs often come with additional administrative and/or tax and benefit management complexities. The new hassle-free BYOD solution addresses businesses of all sizes, but in particular small to mid-sized organizations that do not have the IT, HR and legal staff to address the complexities of stipends, liability for end-user content and auditing of employee expense reports.
"Data charges are critical in controlling enterprise BYOD deployment costs and, with this announcement, we are ushering in a new era with reduced corporate data stipends," said Christy Wyatt, Chairman and CEO of Good Technology. "By integrating a corporate data plan and split billing into our new Good collaboration app and Good Dynamics platform, we are enabling the next wave of innovation for customers who are scaling their mobility efforts."
Because it's common for organizations to support multiple carriers and devices in their BYOD program, Good also announced it is integrating split billing across the Good Dynamics Secure Mobility Platform. IT organizations will be able to aggregate billing for all Good apps, including Good-secured ISV apps and customer-built apps, which to date number over 1,200 in the Good ecosystem. Instead of incurring related data charges against personal monthly plans, access to corporate provisioned apps can be directly billed to employers and partners, streamlining back-end reimbursement as well as HR and legal issues around liability for end-user content. The first step in delivering this new split billing capability includes working with DataMi, a new telecom startup specializing in solutions that help consumers and enterprises get more out of their data.
"Our technology has powerful implications in the rapidly expanding enterprise mobility space," said Harjot Saluja, DataMi's President and CEO. "As BYOD workplaces become increasingly common, employees and businesses are hungrier than ever for new tools that boost flexibility and productivity, and provide greater transparency for data billing through analytics that help businesses understand and predict data usage. Good Technology is able to facilitate this on a global scale."
Both the BYOD solution and the Good Dynamics split billing option will be available in the fall across multiple US wireless carriers.
