According to a recent Gartner report, "more and more enterprises are using phones as an alternative to specialized authentication tokens for remote access to enterprise networks, as well as for online banking and similar services. Mobile phones (and tablets) will overtake PCs as the most common Web access device worldwide during the next year or two, and the value of a phone as a token is eroded when the phone itself (rather than the user's PC) is the endpoint: The "second factor" is no longer distinct, and the level of assurance falls. For many medium-risk use cases, this will still be good enough, but for higher-risk use cases, something else is needed."(1)
Good Technology will enhance the Good for Enterprise and Good for Government suite of solutions with the RSA® Authentication Manager and RSA® Secure Authentication Engine technology, adding support for one-time password (OTP) authentication to mobile devices and applications. This will allow employees to more securely access corporate networks using their mobile phones and RSA SecurID® hardware tokens, while helping to assure IT managers that corporate data is secure. This integration will also allow companies to leverage existing investments in desktop, OTP infrastructure and extend it seamlessly to mobile devices.
"The widespread adoption of 'bring-your-own-device' programs combined with the increasing rate of corporate network threats from mobile devices makes the need for application security controls even more important," said Nicko van Someren, Chief Technology Officer, Good Technology. "Our technology integration with RSA will allow enterprises to deploy enhanced levels of security without increasing complexity designed to enable a simplified yet secure mobile user experience that will help enhance employee productivity while keeping corporate information secure."
Good Technology will also integrate the RSA Authentication Manager and RSA Secure Authentication Engine technology with its Good Dynamics security application platform, allowing enterprise mobile applications to be created, secured and managed for use with the Good for Enterprise or Good for Government solutions.
"Enterprises continue to develop and rollout business applications to mobile devices, leaving corporate networks and data open to a new level of multi-layered, security threats," said Tom Heiser President, RSA. "RSA has been a pioneer in helping companies shape their mobile security strategies and Good is a leader in securing enterprise mobility. Working together we will be able to deliver a gold standard for helping companies secure their network access and protect important information."
"In today's increasingly sophisticated threat environment, companies are challenged for ways to keep information secure, while still enabling mobile access for employees," said Michael Mahan, Senior Vice President of Special Markets, Good Technology. "We're excited to be working with a security leader like RSA to integrate their proven technologies with our suite of products to help our customers embrace enterprise mobility with the peace of mind that their data is secure."
Good Technology is an RSA featured partner and is exhibiting in booth #127 as well as the RSA Pavilion during the RSA Conference 2012, taking place February 27 - March 2 at Moscone Center in San Francisco. Nicko van Someren, CTO of Good Technology will be presenting on "Data Loss Prevention: The Evolving Landscape of Mobile Enterprise Threats Session," on Friday, March 2 from 10:10am-11:00am PT.
