Good News for Labor Day Car Buyers: San Francisco Dealerships Have Most Crowded Vehicle Lots of the Year
Chug reveals Top 25 most over-supplied vehicles, which could mean great deals for car shoppers over the holiday weekend
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Chug (www.chug.net), the search engine for cars, today released its list of the top 25 vehicles crowding San Francisco dealer lots over the upcoming Labor Day weekend – meaning some potentially great deals for holiday weekend car buyers. According to Chug, which is able to map the entire vehicle marketplace, San Francisco auto dealers are entering the Labor Day weekend with the highest inventory supply of the year, and, as dealers look to clear their overcrowded lots for incoming 2012 models, San Francisco car buyers are well positioned to get some excellent deals.
"If you are in the market for a new vehicle in San Francisco, there is no better time to buy than this Labor Day weekend," said Chug CEO Len Short. "Chug data reveals that the tsunami has had less of an impact on inventory supply than anticipated and this, combined with an economic climate that has tightened consumer wallets, has left San Francisco dealerships substantially overstocked. Car-buyers will find some of the most popular models on the oversupply list, including the Toyota Prius, the Subaru Forester, and San Francisco's most popular sport sedan, the BMW 3 series."

About Chug
Chug (www.chug.net) is the first true search engine for cars, with over 3.5 million vehicle listings. By crawling and indexing over 40,000 US auto dealers, Chug provides car shoppers with access to the industry's most comprehensive and accurate view of vehicles currently for sale, and listings sorted to precisely match consumer preference. Created by a veteran team of technology, Internet and media innovators to remove the barriers that frustrate both online car-buyers and sellers, Chug accelerates the connection between consumer and dealer. Buyers benefit because they can easily search for any make, model, year, and/or color, then click directly to the dealer website to learn more -- or opt to interact without surrendering personal information. Dealers benefit from broad exposure of their active vehicles to in-market car shoppers, and immediate connection to interested car buyers.
*Methodology
Chug tracks all cars on dealer websites and records final values at the end of every month. For this study, Chug looked at monthly inventory volume for all makes and models for April 2011 – August 2011. Over and under supply was calculated by comparing August levels of inventory to the average of April – July. A make and model is considered over supply if there are 20% more vehicles in August versus average April-July.
