Golfers Against Cancer Annual Tourney On November 19 GAC Honors Greats in Golf & Medicine
HOUSTON, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- GAC's premier Golf Tournament is November 19 in Kingwood, Texas and there are still a few openings for area players. "This will be the 22nd year for GAC's fund raising event," according to Brian Clary, local attorney and long-time board member for GAC. "The tournament kicks off with a dinner and auction on Saturday evening at the Clubs of Kingwood. The Diamond and Platinum sponsors' tournament will be held on Sunday and the GAC tournament, the main event, will be held on Monday. Kingwood is 25 miles northeast of greater Houston on Interstate 59.
This year's event honors two giants -- one in the field of medicine and the second, a legend in the sport of golf. MD Anderson's Dr. Jim Allison was recently named a Nobel Prize recipient in the field of medicine. Our second honoree is former touring professional Bruce Lietzke a winner on both the PGA as well as the Champions Tours. He succumbed to glioblastoma earlier this year. GAC has funded a number of research projects on the treatment and cure of glioblastoma."
